“It’s a message: ‘Don’t worry, I got your back. I’ll take care of you.’ And so it portends danger,” Jill Wine-Banks, one of the prosecutors during the Watergate scandal, told What A Day. “He doesn’t want anyone who speaks up against him … I would say there’s a risk that his people will think getting rid of Democrats is the way to go.”
